Nightclub bashing victim wins damages award for'spanking and beating' on TV
A gay and disabled man has won millions of pounds in damages after he was kicked, punched, dragged and attacked in a television'spanking and beating' match.
Gerry Browning, 60, a gay man from Oxford, was a victim of'spanking and beating' on Saturday night when his partner Gary Taylor, 54, was caught on a camera trying to force a'striptease' on one of the ringhands on the programme, which was 'not a gay sex show' by the ITV Corporation.
'People can be very proud to say that their partner is equal to them in every way. That's why gay people are so much more vulnerable to the abuse that these show producers would like to inflict on our people,' a source said.

'As you can imagine Gary was shocked to hear that someone had even managed to do this to a gay man. There were two other people standing around with them at the time but they weren't involved at all and no one was even seen looking at the match. This is the kind of behaviour that should have been avoided, particularly when it was revealed that there was one person nearby watching.'
However, two weeks later, his partner, whose name has not been revealed for legal reasons, won £25,000 in damages from ITV over the incident.
Gary said: 'I would have preferred to see people involved and the show that was involved had its management put them in touch with the victim for support as soon as possible.'
Mr Browning's lawyer said: 'There's nothing to show that they were involved in the abuse other than what the person who was watching their TV said was'striptease'. There's no doubt that the tape is clearly available and it is the tape of this attack that was shown to the jury.
'At the start of the trial they called for six months for them to get an expert witness to explain how that attack occurred - the defence called for seven months. Their trial was a real disaster for us, they were completely unco-operative from the very start. They are now suing us for up to £2 million in damages."
The jury of four men and four women took just under eight hours to accept their verdicts that were handed down by Cardiff Crown Court. A final verdict will be delivered before a jury this evening.
