Police seek information on sydney shooting death
Updated
A man has been charged with murder in a Sydney home invasion death of a man who had been in hospital following a shooting in the CBD.
The victim, identified as 44-year-old Richard Gwynn, had undergone a routine operation for his broken arm on Thursday night.
During police inquiries on Saturday police found the man was unresponsive at the scene, and doctors were told his heart had stopped.
They began CPR while blood and fresh tissue from his blood vessels were removed.
A few minutes later, his pulse returned and he was taken to hospital.
Police later obtained a search warrant on Richard Gwynn's home and have released the names of four people they believe were involved in the incident and are waiting to see if they can prove the death was a homicide.
Police said detectives had been called to the home at Woodland St, Penrith shortly before 9pm on Friday.
Police said an argument broke out with the alleged victims, a male and two females, and two men, both under the age of 25, and arrested two of the alleged offenders later.
A 47-year-old man from Penrith, who lives with Gwynn, is also charged with affray, criminal damage, possession of a prohibited weapon, reckless conduct, and resisting police.
A 44-year-old man from St Kilda who lives at Woodland St has been charged with affray.
He told police he and the victim were neighbours but Gwynn's family disputed that the house was his.
Police said a man from the area, who did not want to be identified, said the alleged assault at the home had been a "bitter, ugly fight".
Police have urged anyone with information on the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
